Cleaning up the town: Town Hall staff hard at work

Cleaning up the capital Petit Paris: the Tokombéré town council gets down to work

Since July 24, the hygiene and sanitation department has been criss-crossing the Tokombéré center urban road network.
This is a month-long operation.
The aim is to clean up the town’s streets, particularly after the rain. Equipped with shovels, rakes, tricycles, trucks and other equipment, this major clean-up operation began on the street leading from the private hospital to the tribune, near the Tokombéré market. This was followed by the streets of the administrative district, the market… under the admiring gaze of some local residents.

Municipal employees professionally collected the garbage, then washed down the arterial roads used as dumping grounds. This, despite the measures taken by the municipal administration. The bad practices of some local residents complicate the work of the Tokombéré Town Hall, which, with its meagre resources, spares no effort to serve taxpayers.

As the town’s First Magistrate, His Majesty Boukar TIKIRE, has always proclaimed loud and clear: “Maintaining public roads is an obvious necessity to keep a commune in a constant state of cleanliness and hygiene. However, this would not be possible without the contribution of the town’s citizens. It’s up to each and every one of us to get involved in this sustainable development project. Following the example of the Tucistes, every citizen is called upon to take part in clean-up activities for the benefit of his or her environment. After all, municipal employees cannot use the same arteries on a regular basis”.

The municipality’s sanitation needs to be based on a synchronized effort, commitment and sacrifice on the part of the population, the private sector and the State. That’s why it’s imperative to comply with the Town Hall’s instructions, especially when it comes to waste management, so that the gutters can be properly cleaned.

It should be stressed that the Mairie, by virtue of its police powers aimed at ensuring good order, safety, security and public health, is also responsible for the convenience of passage.
