The Head of Government Joseph Dion Nguté as the Personal Representative of the Head of State proceeded on October 18, 2022 to the inauguration of the sumptuous hospital center in the North Region: General Hospital of Garoua (HGG). Third of its kind in Cameroon, the general hospital of Garoua aligns itself from its opening on the same tuning forks as the general hospital of Douala and the general hospital of Yaoundé, in the sense of the performance of the technical platform and the technology peak. This hospital comes from which to relieve the populations of the north and the neighboring populations in general who on a regular basis had to refer patients to hospitals in other regions with more technical facilities.

During his opening speech at the General Hospital of Garoua and before cutting the symbolic ribbon opening wide the doors of this hospital establishment to the public, the Personal Representative of the President of the Republic will ask the nursing staff to: “exercise their tasks with passion, so that this structure becomes a reference in Cameroon and in the sub-region”. Speaking later to the people, the Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute, will urge them to make useful use of this infrastructure which materializes the unlimited generosity of the President of the Republic for the city of Garoua and the north in general. . He goes on to say that these achievements are part of the option to modernize the national health system. He added that efforts are continuing to launch the pilot phase of Universal Health Coverage.

So many projects in perspective which prompted the Mayor of the city to wish, in his welcome speech, that the Prime Minister’s visits to the city of Garoua would increase.

The hospital, which opened on June 1 in pre-inaugural mode, has already received 1,300 patients and performed more than 30 surgeries, said Dr. Bello. The Korean Ambassador to Cameroon, for his part, hailed the determination of the Government which, despite the drastic economic context and the health crisis linked to Covid-19, managed to complete this work which benefited from funding and Korean expertise. It is an infrastructure built on 10 hectares for an area of ​​30 hectares with 290 beds including 24 for the intensive care unit.

The General Hospital of Garoua is placed under the technical supervision of the Ministry of Public Health and the financial supervision of the Ministry of Finance. These two ministerial departments work together with the Board of Directors to monitor the performance of the hospital, which sends them all the documents relating to its activities.

Recall the Prime Minister was welcomed at the airport by the Governor of the North Region Jean Abat Edi’i, surrounded by local political, administrative, military, judicial and traditional authorities.
