HIMO – MINKA, water pond for social use offered
Improving the living conditions of our populations through the creation, development, commissioning of the resources that the populations need most on a daily basis within their reach and facilitating their use: this is our workhorse of this mandate.
It is on this momentum that the commune of Tokombéré has, with the technical and financial support of the PNDP (National Program for Participatory Development), created a flowing water reservoir in the locality of #Makilingaï, as part of the HIMO projects (High Labor Intensity).
This artificial water pond will ensure the permanent availability of this rare commodity to the populations of Makilingaï and its surroundings. Our zone being a Sahelian zone with more than 08 months of dry season, this permanent availability of water will contribute to the creation of new activities or to facilitate access to water for existing activities. Livestock and agriculture being the two key sectors which occupy about 80% of our populations, this corner of water is an undeniable asset for these farmers who experience enormous difficulties all day long to supply themselves with water for their activities. This pond of flowing water will also encourage young people to undertake at any time in the activities that it was necessary to wait for the rains to launch in order to supply the local market, for their own consumption, to create wealth, to create employment. and thus contribute to reducing the problem of youth unemployment in the locality and who have given themselves up to idleness. It will also put an end to the rural exodus which has become commonplace in the locality.
Remember that the “High Labor Intensity” approach aims to employ this category of the population and guarantee them income that they can invest in sustainable and necessarily more profitable activities.
