This Sunday, March 12, 2023, the members of the electoral college immediately showed up at the polling station in Mora, more precisely at the Lycée Classique de Mora to fulfill their duty.

This polling station is run by a local polling commission headed by a president. Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) made available to the commission the necessary for a spotless election.

As regards voting formalities, before casting his vote, the voter with his electoral card is identified by the president or a member of the local polling commission. After this step, the voter takes himself, under the control of the president and the members of the local polling commission, a ballot paper from each political party as well as an envelope. Equipped with this electoral material, he enters the voting booth and makes his choice. He comes out and introduces the envelope containing the chosen ballot into the ballot box. His vote is recorded by two facts: his signature in front of his name on the attendance list and the affixing of a fingerprint in indelible ink in the same place.

Before initiating the ballot counting operations, the chairman of the local polling commission has the names of the designated scrutineers entered in the minutes. He also prepares the score sheets. These operations take place in the presence of voters who express their intention and within the limits of the reception capacity of the polling station. At the end of this activity, the results of the vote are immediately recorded in the minutes.

The announcement of the results was made around 6 p.m. by ELECAM, the body responsible for elections in Cameroon. The general outcome was not in doubt with CPDM lists facing opposition parties that had no voters.

No surprise remembered during the count, the Mayo-Sava traditional stronghold of the ruling party and faithful to the ideals of the party of the flame since the advent of Multipartyism in 1992 has again won the senatorial elections. The DPRK therefore obtains a good result.

Mayo-Sava at the regional level is the department that gave a strong voice to the CPDM during the 2023 senatorial elections, with more than 97% of the votes in the elections and the first department to give a good result to the CPDM in our Region. A slap for the opposition, which therefore did not convince voters to vote for its lists.

“It is the base that has just expressed itself”, welcomed His Majesty Boukar Tikire, Mayor of the Commune of Tokombéré and President of the Communal Campaign Commission of the ruling party which supported the CPDM list. . The opposition as well as civil society did not criticize the ballot and did not ask for its postponement.

The Senate was created by the Constitution of 1996. The municipal and regional councilors of the current town halls and regions constitute the electoral college of the ballot by indirect universal suffrage which was held in each of the 10 regions and 58 departments of Cameroon. Among the 30 Appointed Senators, the President of the Republic His Excellency Paul Biya appointed a son of Mayo-Sava named Malloum Bra de Kolofata as Senator for the Far North region.
